Like the Queensland bottle tree
I was treated as an ornamental feature
For ages
Though I was the shelter from storm
Tearing myself I quenched their thirst
Of heart
My dark sleepless hours turned all my
Bottled up tears and dreams into stars
To guide
Like the Queensland’s dreamy native
With my leafy desire I can now take root
