Foolishness

source

In that Elfin grot*

(I mean in that restaurant)

Alas

A handsome he

Was waiting

It was a long, long wait

Alas

A lovelorn he

Was he

The sun shivered

Light was withering

Outside

Alas

So young he

Was he

He would wait

Forever it seemed

Alas

Someone had him

In thrall

Then

Pushing the darkness aside

She emerged

La Belle Dame Sans Merci

*I used some words like these from Keats’ poem “La Belle dame sans Merci”

  2. Such sympathy for the fool in one of my favorite Keats! Or was she the fool to draw a useless life in thrall when she could have had a good man? Sometimes I think those caught in these quandaries have no choice, but mostly I agree with your fine poetic assessment!

  9. Two fools together
I think foolishness gets nullified and with love they come out as winners.

  14. Sumana,

That old hurt and folly at times, when love or perceived love, is involved..That dreadful pain and perhaps shame, that we were all too foolish, back then!!! No some wisdom prevails, I think:)
